Solar Plate Etching
Description:
This condensed class will focus on giving artists the basic tools they need to explore the process of photographic etching. At the end of the three weeks, students will feel comfortable with solar plates, including file prep, using an aquatint screen and a plate maker, hand-washing plates, and of course, printing. This class will build on a basic understanding of etching or intaglio, expanding student’s repertoire. Solar plates can be used in conjunction with traditional etchings, photoshop, graphic design, hand-drawn images, etc. One 5”x7” Plate will be provided, and additional plates may be purchased independently or through resale. Students who have a laptop with Photoshop are encouraged to bring it along.

Authorizations: This class will provide authorization for the Conrad Etching Press.
