Spudnik Press members are invited to this lunchtime workshop with Resident Artist Aaron Hughes on art and direct democracy: a form of political life that is centered on participation, rather than representation. Aaron is an artist, curator, organizer, teacher, anti-war activist, and Iraq War veteran who works collaboratively in diverse spaces and media to create meaning out of personal and collective trauma, deconstruct and transform systems of oppression, and seek liberation.

During this event Aaron will discuss his emerging project Autonomous Democracy and facilitate a discussion about direct democracy around the world and the role of art in social movements. Participants will be invited to write or draw their responses to prompts on these topics, and contribute their ideas and stories to this ever-expanding archive project. Everyone who attends will also receive one print from the Autonomous Democracy project!
