Dutes Miller

Website:

www.westernexhibitions.com/miller/index.html

Residency Period:

Sep 2008–Nov 2008

Project Statement:

Dutes Miller and Stan Shellabarger’s first collaborative show occurred at Western Exhibitions in the Spring of 2007 and was reviewed in TimeOut Chicago and the Chicago Sun-Times. The Chicago-based couple has been creating collaborative works since they starting dating years ago, this work creates a distinct body of work separate from their individual studio practices. Miller’s personal work is often paintings or collages with themes of hardcore gay, hyper masculine, body-centric images, rather than focusing on partnerships and domestic.

Tara Zanzig

Tara Zanzig is a multi-disciplinary BFA graduate of The School Of The Art Institute of Chicago, 2001. With 11 years in the commercial textile screen printing industry, Tara turned her focus to fine art in 2013 with an emphasis on public art via street art, large scale screen print installation, and muralism.

Tararchy is the work of Tara Zanzig. With sustainability in mind, this work ethic honors the responsibility of contribution, not just consumption. It uses art and it’s practice to find peace and meaning in this lifetime. It is an individual dedication to positive change and is as evolving as life itself.

Ryan Basile

Ryan received his BS in Studio Art focusing in Communication Design from Skidmore College (2008) and his MFA in Visual Communication Design from The School of the Art Institute of Chicago (2011). His foundation in the world of Graphic Design with a comprehensive typographic education turned into a deep-seated passion when he met letterpress. Typographic forms spoke to him more so than any other medium he’d previously encountered; combining that love with paper into hand printed form was like discovering a new religion. Since Ryan’s discovery of letterpress in graduate school his life has been redirected around this method of printmaking, so much so that he quit an old job an hour after the purchase of his first press; in that moment he started his own business, Double Trip Press.
