SUMMARY:Free Comic Book Day Extravaganza
DESCRIPTION:Celebrate Free Comic Book Day with CAKE and Spudnik Press Cooperative. Join our drop-in workshop\, open to all people of all ages and identities\, and all experience levels. \nWant to make your own comics? Not sure where to start? Start off the workshop by making your own “Comics Handbook”. We’ll provide templates and drawing prompts\, a lavish selection of papers\, and our resident photocopier. Select the prompts that strike your fancy\, pick out papers that inspire you to draw and design your own cover. Then bring these elements together with a spiral binding\, staples\, or hand-sewn butterfly stitch\, and trim to any dimension you like with our fun and friendly electric guillotine. \nAttendees will also get to collaborate with friends and strangers to create a one-page jam comic\, using all sorts of mark making implements (pencil\, pens\, ink\, and more). Then learn how to reproduce this work using a Risograph machine\, one of the many unique tools housed at Spudnik Press Cooperative. Everyone who contributes will get to take home a limited-edition jam comic. \nThis is a drop-in\, all-ages donation-based workshop. No RSVP required.
