Spudnik Press\, Johalla Projects\, Filter Space\, Platform Studios\, The Post Family\, Latitude\, Low Res\, Almost Gold\, Fulton Street Collective\, Tsubo\, and many others are opening their doors for their annual night of community delight. \nInside these hidden gems lie art exhibitions and design projects at the forefront of contemporary practice. Have a behind-the-scenes look at local art studios plus other brilliant spaces all under one large roof. Sign up to volunteer to help out at the Spudnik Press Cooperative Member Art Market taking place during the Open House!  \nSpace Details:\n#302: Spudnik Press Cooperative \nSpudnik Press Cooperative\, a non-profit printmaking studio that represents over 150 Chicago artists\, presents a one-night market featuring cards\, handmade books\, home goods\, apparel\, wall hangings and more by some of Chicago’s best up-and-coming artists. \nEven those not in the market for affordable local art should stop by the studio to check out the vibrant artist cooperative and Spudnik’s unique collection of presses that date as far back as the early 1900’s.  \n#201: Tsubo Salon \nTsubo Salon offers hair services to a diverse clientele. Known for its simplistic and holisitc space\, Tsubo strives to set itself from other salons by approaching whole beauty in an understated way.  \n#207: Filter Space \nPower and Politics is curated from an open call for work by Barbara Tannenbaum\, Curator of Photography at the Cleveland Museum of Art. This collective exhibition is inspired by contemporary political climates in all areas of the world\, and features photographers who address the myriad aspects of political systems their photographic practices. \nOn the Shelf is an exhibition of photo books juried by Kelli Connell\, photographer\, co-founder of SKYLARK Editions and Professor of Photography at Columbia College Chicago. Artists selected for this exhibition created compelling photo books that are self-published\, handmade or commercially published. The photo book creates a more intimate space for photographs\, and fully immerses viewers in its delicate presentation. \nFilter Photo is a not-for-profit 501(c)(3) organization based in Chicago\, Illinois. Filter Photo’s mission is two-fold: first\, to serve and support the photographic communities of Chicago and the Midwest; and second\, to highlight Chicago as a vital center of the national photographic community.  In addition to the annual Filter Photo Festival held each autumn\,  Filter Photo also runs Filter Space\, a permanent gallery and project space for social\, educational\, and professional development activities\, including exhibitions\, workshops\, and lectures. \n#210: The Post Family \nThe Post Family is an arts incubator that organizes workshops\, lectures\, and residencies with design industry leaders in Chicago. The studio hosts experiences that create visibility for community practices and regularly connects with contributors for media development projects that promote critical dialogue. \n#304: Platform Studios \nPlatform Studios is an artists collective featuring traditional and digital media including painting\, illustration\, printing\, and graphic design. We also offer our long-running figure drawing sessions twice a week\, Wednesday and Thursday evenings\, 7pm-930pm\, open to everyone. \n#307: Fulton Street Collective \n#209: Johalla Projects \nStephen Eichhorn: Closed Garden\nSeptember 9\, 2016 — October 16\, 2016 \n#207: Latitude Chicago \nLatitude will host open lab tours and a mixer in the space. Latitude staff will be available to hand out info on the lab.  \nLATITUDE is a volunteer-run\, 501(c)(3) organization. We maintain a digital DIY lab and Service Bureau with high-end scanning and printing equipment\, operate an artist in residence program\, and organize ongoing arts programming. \n#203: Low Res \nLow Res was created to amplify creativity and build community\, while helping some of our favorite brands do the same. We’re a creative agency\, event space and hub for creatives\, all housed in a space that was built around our mission. \n#202: Almost Gold \nAlmost Gold is a design-driven production company that specializes in creating commercial content with expertise ranging from large scale productions to VFX and Motion Graphics.  \n#308: It’s Oksana \n“It’s Oksana” textile design studio offers a wide selection of window coverings\, bedding and soft goods. With 15 years of experience\, we are constantly looking for innovation in the industry that allow us to develop the best solution for your design\, not only aesthetically\, but also helping you with selecting the best window products based on functionality and your budget. \n#208: Doug Fogelson Studio & SK Design Group \nDoug Fogelson Studio: Contemporary photographic art studio will have works on display.\nSK Design Group: Globally minded Chicago based interior designers. \n#205: Folia Loft \nFolia Loft is the home of Stephanie Bassos Photography\, M. Lindsay Photography\, The Foxglove Studio and Make Luft\, specializing in photography\, florals and art installations respectively.  Come by their studio\, check out some work and have a drink with these women owned businesses. \n1st Floor: Gerda Meyer Bernstein \nGerda Meyer Bernstein is an internationally known Chicago-based artist who addresses thorny global issues. Her previous exhibitions include “Witness & Legacy\,” a traveling museum exhibition; The Alternative Museum in New York City\, The Spertus Museum and Cultural Center in Chicago; “Passages” at the Ellis Island Immigration Museum; and at the New Berliner Kunstverein\, Berlin\, Germany.
