SUMMARY:Drink & Draw [VIRTUAL] Architecture: Abstract Schematics
DESCRIPTION:This May\, we’re dedicating our Drink & Draw series to architectural space! Join us for one or both sessions to explore perspective\, geometry\, scale\, maps\, schematics\, and try out unconventional ways of rendering spaces\, both real and imagined. \nGuest Artist: Kelly Kaczynski\nJoin guest artist Kelly Kaczynski for a reverse journey of mapping space. Rather than describing an existing physical environment or architecture\, she will start with abstraction to picture alternative forms of constructing space. Working backwards\, we will start by drawing “accidental schematics” using geometry\, chance\, and intuition for something that may or may not correspond to a logical reality. \nWe’ll ask\, “What if this was a plan for a building? A city? A safe passage across the ocean?” Then with a second drawing\, we’ll translate the abstractions into a map or plan for a physical space. We will layer the drawings and explore their points of correspondence. \nSuggested Materials: \n\nDrawing materials (pens\, pencils\, markers\, ink and quill)\nCharcoal or crayons for rubbings\nPaper to draw on\nPaper for folding into shapes\nToothpicks\, string\, or chopsticks\, coins or buttons\, handkerchief or napkin\, string \n\nOptional Materials: \n\nScissors\, X-acto tool\, or tear bar\nGlue\n\nZoom Meeting ID: 9836 6020 342\n\nDrink & Draw [VIRTUAL] is a low-key drop-in social workshop devoted to staying creative from home. There are no pretensions and newcomers are always welcome\, so invite your friends to join! Each Drink & Draw [Virtual] features a guest artist and a theme or project that uses everyday household supplies. Don’t have all the materials? Hosts will help you improvise. Find us on Zoom\, a free app for your phone or computer. And of course: BYOB!  \nSuggested Donation $15: Pitch in to our Venmo Tip Jar (@spudnikpress) or donate on the website. Kelly is donating her portion of tips to the studio\, so 100% of your donation will directly support Spudnik Press Cooperative. \nImage Credit: From the series Stages (iterate)\, 2017-2018\, monoprint\, 11″x15″\n\nThis event is for everyone! ASR closed captions will be available. If you require another access service to fully participate or have any questions about accessibility\, please contact Angee Lennard at angee@spudnikpress.org.
