SUMMARY:Drink & Draw [VIRTUAL]: Fhdydyejdvubsjwv Enchanted: Idea Generating & Digital Collage
DESCRIPTION:Guest Artist: Erin Hayden\nArtist and poet Erin Hayden will help us tap into our unconscious by exploiting the randomness of technology to create unplanned—and unplannable—works of art. We’ll start with collaborative and often hilarious writing exercises\, as well as automatic writing and the auto-fill feature\, to inspire\, generating content\, and guide our digital collage making. Looking together at found images\, we’ll use drawing as a way of “note-taking” for new marks and visual ideas that we can add to our  compositions. You can create your collage using free software (as well as “analog” materials) or watch along as Erin shares her own process and methods in Photoshop to create an original artwork with us. \nErin Hayden is an interdisciplinary artist predominantly working in painting\, performance\, poetry\, video\, and installation. Her work has been exhibited in various cities across the US and abroad including at Stony Island Arts Bank\, and Galleria d’Arte Moderna e Contemporanea Torino. Solo exhibitions of her paintings and video work has been shown at Mana Contemporary Chicago\, and Randy Alexander Gallery. She has been an artist resident at the Ragdale Foundation\, the Banff Center for Arts and Creativity\, Chicago Artists Coalition\, and is a Luminarts Fellow. DESCRIPTION:Guest Artists: Lucia Calderon-Arrieta and Anders Zanichkowsky\nTips to be split with The Love Fridge\nThe Chicago City budget is under scrutiny for the disproportionate level of funds invested in the police department ($1.7 Billion per year; 40% of the entire budget*). How might art\, writing\, and poetry help us envision other ways to invest in our city and the citizens of Chicago? What would the city look like if you were in charge of where to invest resources? \nMaybe you want to explore a future with funds reallocated to things like housing\, health care\, and education. Maybe you want to explore more fantastical or playful futures; or your own unique take on urban planning. What inventive community resources would you like to see our city invest in?  \nThis kind of collective imagining is a powerful and necessary tool for conjuring a new reality that could make policing obsolete. Not from Chicago? Please join us to work on a new vision for your own community that centers the margins and allows everyone to thrive! \nAnders Zanichkowsky will lead us in some word-mapping exercises to write our way to a different future\, and Lucia Calderon-Arrieta will guide drawing activities that illustrate our new visions.
