SUMMARY:Drink & Draw [VIRTUAL]: Raspado Scratch Drawings
DESCRIPTION:Guest Artist: Rogelio Rosiles\nArtist\, printmaker\, and muralist Rogelio Rosiles discovered the process for raspados or “scratch drawings” by accident while sanding down layers on his paintings. Now he fills his sketchbook with these colorful\, textured drawings whose grainy finish is reminiscent of early\, low-res\, digital media. This simple process allows you to play and create on many levels by covering crayon wax with an acrylic coating and then scratching through the surface to reveal what’s hidden below. Scratch drawings feel a lot like printmaking because they work both forwards and backwards\, by adding and subtracting\, and you’re rewarded with a dramatic final reveal. It’s a wonderful way to play with simple\, nostalgic materials and create happy accidents and surprises for yourself along the way. \nSuggested Materials: \n\nPaper of any kind/color (the thicker the better)\nCrayons\nSharpie markers\, acrylic paints\, dry erase markers\, shoe polish\, or White Out\nKnife\, Xacto blade\, box cutter\, needle tool or etching needle\, or other sharp scraping tool\n\nZoom Meeting ID: 9472 1822 373\n\nDrink & Draw [VIRTUAL] is a low-key drop-in social workshop devoted to staying creative from home. There are no pretensions and newcomers are always welcome\, so invite your friends to join! Each Drink & Draw [Virtual] features a new guest artist and a new theme or project that uses pencil\, paper\, and everyday household supplies. Don’t have a sketchbook? Hosts will help you improvise. Find us on Zoom\, a free app for your phone or computer. And of course: BYOB!  \nLove the experience? SUMMARY:Drink & Draw [VIRTUAL]: Flag Books

She is currently teaching art in Guangzhou\, China since receiving her MFA from RISD in 2020. SUMMARY:Drink & Draw [VIRTUAL]: Paper Weaving
DESCRIPTION:Staff Led: Anders Zanichkowsky\nMuch like printmaking\, the process of weaving uses structure\, order\, and repetition to produce beautiful and unique imagery. We often think of weaving things like cloth\, rugs\, and baskets\, but you can also make weavings from things like drawings\, letters and mail\, magazines\, and wrapping paper? Anders Zanichkowsky will show you how to create both flat and dimensional pieces that combine colors\, patterns\, textures\, and images in unexpected ways using basic hand woven structures. We will practice the basics by weaving together two original drawings that we create for this purpose\, to reveal unexpected connections and relationships. Then we will move into some more elaborate ways to weave with any kind of paper you’d like to experiment with. \nSuggested Materials\n\nAny kind of blank paper (plain or construction)\nOther interesting papers like magazines\, letters\, drawings\, book pages\, etc.\nPens\, markers\, crayons\, colors pencils\nScissors\, or an X-acto blade and cutting mat\nTape or glue\n\nZoom Meeting ID: 9813 3820 740\n\nDrink & Draw [VIRTUAL] is a low-key drop-in social workshop devoted to staying creative from home.
