DESCRIPTION:The Hunger Will Wake Us is the newest show by Hope Wang and Farnaz Khosh-Sirat. Join them for a virtual tour of the exhibition followed by an artist talk in conversation with Anders Zanichkowsky. \nThis exhibition brings together new print work from Wang and Khosh-Sirat\, who each explore the translational process of materializing digital animations and poetry text into print. Together they reflect on events of displacement through the metaphor of simultaneously losing and finding new meaning and new form via the act of translation. By reconfiguring fragments of hyper-specific architectural details\, their works become “false” copies and traces of their constructed memories. DESCRIPTION:Please join us for artist-led gallery hours for The Hunger Will Wake Us: Hope Wang & Farnaz Khosh-Sirat. \nThis exhibition brings together new print work from Hope Wang and Farnaz Khosh-Sirat\, who each explore the translational process of materializing digital animations and poetry text into print. Together they reflect on events of displacement through the metaphor of simultaneously losing and finding new meaning and new form via the act of translation. \nHope Wang uses printmaking\, handweaving\, painting\, and photography to reimagine spatial association and visual perception. Wang references the architectural landscape as a malleable document of visual language where building facades become eroded\, redacted\, and defaced. Farnaz Khosh-Sirat is an Iranian light artist whose work employs digital tools to enhance human experiences of the sublime. Through the use of Persian architectural structures and patterns\, Khosh-Sirat personifies human fragility in the contrasting positions between man and nature. \nBy reconfiguring fragments of hyper-specific architectural details\, their works become “false” copies and traces of their constructed memories. These palimpsests’ postures of longing aren’t just decorative\, but also serve as coded languages of their own. \nReservations are not required. The studio can accommodate up to 12 visitors at a time. If we are at capacity\, you may be asked to wait a few minutes before entering. Masks and social distancing between households is required. SUMMARY:Virtual Workshop: Painting with Pulp
DESCRIPTION:Pulp Painting is an emerging specialty that attracts visual artists’ attention. Artists\, printmakers\, painters\, book artists\, installation artists\, and people who love to make creative work will enjoy this one-day workshop. In this workshop\, students will learn how to freely made paintings with dyed pulp. Yasaman Moussavi will demonstrate making pulp out of scrap paper\, dyeing pulps\, and creating color sheets. \nYasaman Moussavi is a visual artist and art instructor. She holds an MFA with two emphases on Painting and Printmaking from Texas Tech University\, where she explored and developed her skills in papermaking\, printmaking\, and installation art. In her art practice research\, she explores the socio-cultural in-betweenness as a capacity and disposition to participate in meaning-making across cultures and languages. For her\, transitional spaces are the performative embodiment of spatial mapping and in-betweenness.  Her works have been displayed in many national and international solo and group exhibitions such as Juried International Exhibition of Contemporary Art\, Irving Art Center\, TX and A.I.R Gallery Biennial\, Brooklyn\, NY\, among others. She is a co-founder of Didaar Art Collective\, a Chicago -based Iranian art community.
