SUMMARY:Drink & Draw [VIRTUAL]: Character Creation
DESCRIPTION:This August\,  Drink & Draw explores puppets! First we’ll develop characters for our puppets through a rapid fire doodle event. Then\, we’ll bring these character designs to life as paper puppets. \nGuest Artist: Logan Kruidenier\nLogan Kruidenier has led various “Doodle Jams” throughout the city inspired by his daily practice of making quick drawings on post-it notes. This practice has become an essential part of his day and brings fresh ideas and new compositions to his art. \nEvery story needs a compelling character. Doodle your cast of puppets into creation through a rapid set of prompt-driven drawing exercises designed to help you get free and wacky with your ideas as you think about interesting personality traits\, back stories\, physical features\, and how these might manifest as striking silhouettes. Join us with your beverage of choice  for a fun mid-week break in your routine. And if your doodles are begging to be brought to life\, come back for part two on August 18th! \nSuggested Materials:\n\nPost-it notes or loose pieces of paper\nDrawing tools like pencils\, pens or sharpies\n\nZoom Meeting ID: 84382223670\n\nDrink & Draw [VIRTUAL] is a low-key drop-in workshop devoted to staying creative from home. There are no pretensions and newcomers are always welcome. Each event features a guest artist and a project that uses minimal supplies. Don’t have all the materials? Hosts will help you improvise. Find us on Zoom\, a free app for your phone or computer. And of course: BYOB!  \n$15 Suggested Donation: Pitch in to our Venmo Tip Jar (@spudnikpress) or donate on the website.  \n\nThis event is for everyone! ASR closed captions will be available. If you require another access service to fully participate or have any questions about accessibility\, please contact Angee Lennard at angee@spudnikpress.org. To ensure the best experience\, please try to contact us at your soonest convenience.

Then\, we’ll bring these character designs to life as paper puppets. \nGuest Artist: Myra Su\nAs one of the oldest forms of puppetry\, paper and shadow puppets have delighted and entertained for hundreds of years. Together\, we’ll explore both shadow puppets that focus on expressive silhouettes as well as paper puppets with hand drawn features.  \nJoin us  for this fun mid-week break to build your own cast of characters for a magical at home shadow play.
