SUMMARY:Drink & Draw [VIRTUAL]: Rococo: Wearable Renditions
DESCRIPTION:This September\, Drink & Draw explores Rococo! We will be working through modern renditions of this artistic style featuring the classic elements of nature and floral patterns depicted through soft colors and curvy\, botanical shapes. \nGuest Artist: Grace Makuch\nOriginating in France during the 1730s\, Rococo was an artistic style that sought to push the boundaries of the formal and geometric decorative style during that time. As an homage to that exceptionally ornamental style\, Grace Makuch will walk us through a modern approach to Rococo by applying it’s whimsical design to clothing. For this event\, she will be sharing the ornamental\, abstracted elements of her artist practice by cutting out botanic shapes drawn on contact paper\, applying them to t-shirts\, and then bleaching those shapes into the fabric through bleach painting and drawing with bleach pens. Together\, we will create unique wearables inspired by the art of Rococo with a modern twist. \nSuggested Materials: \n\nBlank T-shirts or any article of clothing or fabric\nBleach and bleach Pens\n\n* Please work in a ventilated area due to bleach chemical fumes. \n\nPaintbrushes\nContact Paper\nCopy Paper\nX-acto knife or scissors\nPlastic bag to protect surfaces from bleach\nRubber Gloves\n\nOptional Materials: \n\n3-D Fabric Paint\nFabric Markers\nReference images of anything strange you’ve taken a picture of on your phone.\nA short list of the weirdest dreams you’ve ever had 🙂\n\nZoom Meeting ID: 88157316840\n\nDrink & Draw [VIRTUAL] is a low-key drop-in workshop devoted to staying creative from home. SUMMARY:Drink & Draw [VIRTUAL]: Rococo: Floral Dyeing
DESCRIPTION:This September\, Drink & Draw explores Rococo! We will be working through modern renditions of this artistic style featuring the classic elements of nature and floral patterns depicted through soft colors and curvy\, botanical shapes. \nGuest Artist: Taylor Augustine\nRococo art and design was rich in scenes of nature and lilting botanical forms. Florals were especially highlighted through wallpapering\, murals and fabric patterning. What better way to continue to explore those delicately placed details than through dyeing with flowers in their natural form? Taylor Augustine will be sharing her passion for nature and leading us through the art of Bundle Dyeing: a holistic\, magical approach to fabric patterning. These functional artworks will be beautiful additions to your home or wardrobe as well as make great gifts. So gather your unadorned linens\, tea towels\, t-shirts\, and soft wearables and collect some spices\, flowers\, and leaves and join us for this alchemical event. \nSuggested Materials: \n\nFabric: used or new linens\, t-shirts\, skirts\, table runners\, etc\nFlowers or any organic matter\, such as dried chili peppers\, turmeric & paprika\nApple Cider Vinegar\nRubber bands\nPot and stove top \nplace to store for drying (indirect sunlight is best)\n\nZoom Meeting ID: 87878997906\n\nDrink & Draw [VIRTUAL] is a low-key drop-in workshop devoted to staying creative from home.
