SUMMARY:Drink & Draw [VIRTUAL]: Collage as Archive
DESCRIPTION:This November\, Drink & Draw dives into collage. Alongside our guest artists\, attendees will explore various collage techniques using hand-drawn elements\, found material\, and magazines. \nGuest Artist: Kelly Reaves\nCollage arts can be traced back hundreds of years but made a novel entrance into the art scene during the early 20th century. A plethora of materials can be utilized in collage art such as: fabric\, magazines\, old artworks\, and more.  \nFor this Drink & Draw project\, Kelly will be utilizing drawing materials\, watercolor or gouache\, stencils and some of her old art pieces to create a layered collage and invites attendees to work alongside her in this process. Kelly’s collage layering is intuitive\, spontaneous\, and utilizes organic shapes. In the end\, her collage work emerges as an archive of left behind pieces that have been destroyed to make something new. This event is perfect for those who seek to breathe new life into old work\, intuitively create\, and learn a new\, unique process for the art of collage. DESCRIPTION:This November\, Drink & Draw dives into collage. Alongside our guest artists\, attendees will explore various collage techniques using hand-drawn elements\, found material\, and magazines. \nGuest Artist: Kelly Boner\nFor this Drink & Draw collage event\, we will be working with found imagery. Inspired by Pop Art and photomontage practices\, our guest Kelly Boner seeks to decontextualize from its original source. To reactivate her imagery\, Kelly either asks a series of questions or sets rules for herself like choosing a color palette\, creating a focal point\, working with repetition\, and more. \nKelly will guide attendees through some of her favorite prompts and questions to help build their collages. You can create a narrative\, make something wacky\, or simply play with imagery you’re attracted to.
