Featured Workshop:
Block-Print Your Own Cards

Blockprint is one of many processes at Spudnik Press that can be use to print your own collection of cards. Images can be transferred to or drawn directly on a block, then carved with a gauge to create high-contrast stylized designs. This is a quick and fun introduction to blockprinting, allowing students to dabble with a new process. Students will arrive with a concept or reference image. Throughout the afternoon, they will learn how to carve that image in relief on a linoleum block, print in black ink using a sign press, and last but not least, clean their block so they can print more down the road. Students will walk away with 20 handmade greeting cards.

Student material list: Students should bring 20 blank cards (any color or size is fine – students will carve a 4”x6” block), as well as a concept or reference image to base your design on. Basic white 5×7” flat cards are available for students who do not bring their own folded cards.
Prerequisites: None.
Authorizations: None. Multi-week classes will give students the experience they need to use our screenprinting facilities at Open Studio or by appointment.
Related Classes: Screenprint Your Own Cards, Letterpress Your Own Cards

Meets on Sunday, 06/02/2013 from 1:00 – 5:00pm on with Liz Born | $45
