Genie Hong (b. 1997) is an artist, book maker, photographer, illustrator, and quilter based in Los Angeles and Chicago. She is Sino-Vietnamese, born and raised in the 626 area. Her work explores identity, family, politics, and the complicated situations that arise at the intersections of all of those things. Through humor, she navigates through intergenerational trauma, mental illness, buried pains, and the unique community of first generation children linked by the internet.
Genie has shown in the Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago, Adds Donna Gallery, and has books in the Joan Flasch Special Collections. She is a founding member of the publishing collective, West Coast Friendship Club.
Genie has a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago (2019).
