Drink & Draw June: Comics Jam & Cake

Our June Drink & Draw is extra special as we celebrate the 10th Anniversary of Spudnik Press Cooperative. Join us for a double serving of CAKE:

First of all, CAKE (The Chicago Alternative Comics Expo) is right around the corner. Gear up by creating your own CAKE-worthy comics at this month’s Drink & Draw. Comix artist and illustrator Chloë Perkis will be your guide to sequential arts by leading an evening of collaborative comic making via a good old-fashioned Comics Jam. Each guest will starts comic, pass it to their neighbor for the next panel.

Then, head to the snack table to grab a slice of birthday cake. What could be sweeter?

Chloë Perkis is a visual artist whose work explores the notion of absurdity and focuses on the brutal nature of the world. Abject figures and textures arise as focus points in her illustrations as a means to document societal observations and exercise the artist’s autonomous vision, while humor becomes the catalyst to demystify the grotesque and empower the vulnerable.

Drink and Draw is a low-key drop-in social workshop devoted to drawing practices. There are no pretensions, no prerequisites, and newcomers are always welcome. Bring a sketchbook and basic drawing materials, and invite your friends! Drink & Draw occurs the first Wednesday of every other month and features a special theme and a guest artist. Admission to Drink & Draw is a $10 suggested donation. The event is BYOB, but we do have some wine and beer available with a donation.
