Drink & Draw October 2018: Halloween Misadventures in Ink with Colleen Hardison

Afraid of ugly lines? Frightened you’ll make bad art? Guest artist Colleen Hardison has tricks and treats to help you dust of your drawing skills and discover the perfectly imperfect!

Painting with ink is a great way to make haunting Halloween drawings that embrace unpolished or crude marks. Through experimentation with varying line making techniques and layering ink, you will incorporate accidents and bloopers into your work and creative process.

With Halloween-themed displays, found images, and ample inks and paper, you will be able build your confidence with quick sketches and ultimately turn your doodles into frankenstein masterpieces.

Colleen Hardison received her BFA in Illustration from Massachusetts College of Art and Design. She is a freelance illustrator and framing consultant. Her work focuses on naiveté, folklore and how weird it is to be alive. To learn more about Hardison and her work, visit her website or follow dammitcolleen on Instagram.

Drink and Draw is a low-key drop-in social workshop devoted to drawing practices. There are no pretensions, no prerequisites, and newcomers are always welcome. Bring a sketchbook and basic drawing materials, and invite your friends! Drink & Draw occurs the first Wednesday of every other month and features a special theme and a guest artist. Admission to Drink & Draw is a $10 suggested donation. The event is BYOB, but we do have some wine and beer available with a donation.
