Drink & Draw [VIRTUAL] Architecture: Abstract Schematics

This May, we’re dedicating our Drink & Draw series to architectural space! Join us for one or both sessions to explore perspective, geometry, scale, maps, schematics, and try out unconventional ways of rendering spaces, both real and imagined.

Guest Artist: Kelly Kaczynski

Join guest artist Kelly Kaczynski for a reverse journey of mapping space. Rather than describing an existing physical environment or architecture, she will start with abstraction to picture alternative forms of constructing space. Working backwards, we will start by drawing “accidental schematics” using geometry, chance, and intuition for something that may or may not correspond to a logical reality.

We’ll ask, “What if this was a plan for a building? A city? A safe passage across the ocean?” Then with a second drawing, we’ll translate the abstractions into a map or plan for a physical space. We will layer the drawings and explore their points of correspondence.
