Drink & Draw [VIRTUAL]: Paper Weaving

Staff Led: Anders Zanichkowsky

Much like printmaking, the process of weaving uses structure, order, and repetition to produce beautiful and unique imagery. We often think of weaving things like cloth, rugs, and baskets, but you can also make weavings from things like drawings, letters and mail, magazines, and wrapping paper? Anders Zanichkowsky will show you how to create both flat and dimensional pieces that combine colors, patterns, textures, and images in unexpected ways using basic hand woven structures. We will practice the basics by weaving together two original drawings that we create for this purpose, to reveal unexpected connections and relationships. Then we will move into some more elaborate ways to weave with any kind of paper you’d like to experiment with.

  • Other interesting papers like magazines, letters, drawings, book pages, etc.
