Drink & Draw [VIRTUAL] Solstice Intentions: Altar Pieces & Collages

Guest Artist: Emma Sielaff

Bring a blast of light and color to the longest night of the year by creating your own handmade altar piece in preparation for the winter solstice! Collage your favorite colorful materials into the form of a brilliant flame, blazing bonfire, or meditative candle. Then, weave in writings, quotes, or intentions you want to set for the coming year. Both the finished piece and the process of making it can bring clarity and inspiration to your hopes and goals for the new year. Later, you might do a ceremonial burn of your creation on the night of the solstice, or keep it up as a centering reminder in your daily life.

Artist Emma Sielaff is a printmaker and papermaker who makes collages of dreamscapes and wonderlands, and loves to play with textures and layers in her abstract pieces. We will use the most vibrant colors possible, from magazine scraps to our own doodles and drawings, and see how rich colors can bring out the full dimensionality of our collaged pieces..
