Fall Member Meeting: Field Trip to Platen Press Museum
This fall, our member meeting hits the road and we head to Zion, Illinois!
The Platen Press Museum is the personal press and print paraphernalia collection of Paul Aken. With an entire room full floor to ceiling with miniature and toy presses, a Gutenberg-stype screw press, functioning linotype and ludlow typograph machines, and complete set of lead Chinese type, this studio is a must see for the print enthusiast, regardless of one’s experience as a letterpress printer.
We’ll convene at noon sharp and car pool to the suburbs. At 1pm we’ll get the grand tour of the Platen Press Museum from proprietor and print master himself, Paul Aken. The caravan plans to return to Spudnik Press by 4pm.
This event is for Spudnik Members only – the only catch is that there are a limited number of spots available so you must RSVP to firstname.lastname@example.org no later than September 27th in order to guarantee your spot on this trip!
